The Thomasville Father Daughter Dance 2014 is the very first one of its kind being held at St Thomas Episcopal Church.  All proceeds from the dance with allow the local Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society to build a brand new exercise yard for the animals they shelter there.  All fathers and their daughters will enjoy music from the 70s, 80s and 90s up until present day thanks to the talents of the live DJ that evening.  The price of admission includes hors d’ouevres and plenty to drink (non-alcoholic, of course).  You can wear your Sunday best or formal wear…your choice.  Capture the magic of the evening with a photograph taken by a professional photographer.

Thomasville Jr Service League Bazaar 2014

Are you getting ready to clean out the closets of your Thomasville home this week to get ready for spring cleaning early?  Have the holidays created an abundance of excess stuff in your house that you don’t know what to do with?  Donate your extra things to the Thomasville Jr Service League Bazaar 2014.

The Thomasville Jr Service League Bazaar 2014 will be accepting donations for items to sell all the way up until Friday, January 31st.  They are looking for clothing for men, women and children of all ages as well as accessories, toys, furnitures, electronics, sporting goods, home goods and even holiday decorations (Easter, Halloween, 4th of July, Christmas, etc.).  The annual bazaar helps the Thomasville Jr Service League raise money to continue their efforts in providing children’s programs for the kids living in both Thomasville and Thomas County.  These programs include medical, recreational and economic services.

If you’d like to shop the Thomasville Jr Service League Bazaar 2014 before the crowds hit, a special Preview Party will be held on Friday, January 31st.  For only $15, guests at the Preview Party will enjoy dinner, music and drinks (must be 21 or older) at 5:30pm, with early bird shopping, a live auction and silent auctions beginning at 7pm.

Hands On Thomasville Mardi Gras 2014

You don’t have to go to Lousiana to enjoy some Mardi Gras fun.  In fact, you don’t even have to wait until Mardi Gras to get into the spirit.  N’Awlins comes to Thomasville this Saturday, January 25th with the Hands On Thomasville Mardi Gras 2014.

The Hands On Thomasville Mardi Gras 2014 event helps raise funds for Hands On Thomas County, an organization that encourages volunteerism in Thomasville and other communities in the Thomas County area.  HOTC also helps find volunteers for local non-profit organizations.  They also help local non-profit and community groups locate projects to help make Thomas County neighborhoods thrive.

At the Hands On Thomasville Mardi Gras 2014 event, guests will enjoy live music and dancing, auctions for some amazing prizes, raffles and some tantalizing Cajun-inspired food courtesy of local Thomasville favorite JB Crumbs.  There’s even a fun “goof booth” for guests to memorialize the evening with your friends.

One of the most popular resolutions Americans make every year is to lose weight and/or live a healthier lifestyle.  Starting off with a New Year’s Day 2014 hike in Thomasville fits this resolution perfectly.  Participants will spend approximately one hour following their guide as they hike through the old growth of the Lost Creek Forest.  It’s considered a very easy trek during the wintertime.  If you want to continue on to the new Lost Creek growth and along the Yamacraw for another hour or two, make sure you wear your best hiking boots and a good pair of socks because you will get muddy.

Thomasville Winter Solstice Celebration 2013

The winter solstice, also known as the Southern solstice, takes place when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky.  This occurrence has been celebrated annually for centuries by cultures all over the world.  You can join in on the festivities by coming to the Thomasville Winter Solstice Celebration 2013 at the Birdsong Nature Center this Saturday, December 21st.

To celebrate the Thomasville Winter Solstice Celebration 2013, Birdsong Nature Center has invited friends, neighbors and visitors to their facility to listen to different kinds of music around the bonfire.  Included in the price of admission is a dinner of chili, vegetarian soup and hot drinks.  After dinner, wander down to the Star Pasture to gaze up into the skies and contemplate the universe and your place in it.  Quite a “heady” proposition, isn’t it?  The entire solstice celebration takes place outdoors.  So, make sure you dress appropriately.

Located to the south on Hwy 19, the Thomasville Drive Thru Christmas in Lights 2013 is the latest demonstration of Flower Foods’ traditional annual light display.  It has also become a Thomasville Townie favorite.  After the offices close every evening beginning the day after Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve, the grounds light up in dazzling displays of twinkling lights, complete with nativity scenes and an old Victorian village.  You’ll feel like you stepped right into a Thomasville Christmas painting from yesteryear.  To help you get into the holiday spirit, traditional Christmas music as well as fun contemporary holidays tunes will ring out into the nighttime sky as you drive through in your vehicles.

Thomasville Pre-Halloween Fun 2013

Why should trick-or-treating be limited to one night a year?  After all, your little fairy princess, fireman, ghostbuster or alien has put a lot of thought into who they want to dress up as.  Since Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, get in some Thomasville Pre-Halloween Fun 2013 in downtown Thomasville.

Several businesses in the downtown Thomasville area have agreed to participate in a little Thomasville Pre-Halloween Fun 2013.  Kids can practice their trick-or-treating speech safely by dressing up in their costumes and visiting any business with a “Trick or Treat Here” sign in their window.  Treats will be passed out to all kids in costume accompanied by an adult.  While you’re in the downtown Thomasville area, pick up some fun fall-themed decorations or get a jump start on your Christmas gift list.  It’s never too early to begin.  With every purchase of $25 or more in Downtown Dollars, you will receive an historic Thomasville coffee mug absolutely free.  Downtown Dollars are good at all participating downtown Thomasville shops and restaurants and make great stocking stuffers.

Get in some Thomasville pre-Halloween fun 2013 this Saturday, October 26th.  Your little boils and ghouls get to wear their costumes and enjoy the spoils.  What a fun way to scare up a good time.
